Experiments were conducted using the SITES AquaNet mesocosm infrastructure in the lake Feresjön (Asa Research Station), Erken (Erken Laboratory) and Stortjärn (Svartberget Research station) as part of the Global Salt Experiment in 2018 (doi:10.5683/SP3/BIDMCI). The experiments ran for 6 weeks and the experimental design consisted of a gradient of increasing salt concentrations (20 mesocosms representing 20 chloride concentrations. Added salt range: from 0 to 1500 mg Cl L-1). Each mesocosm received different amounts of salt (NaCl with a purity of >99%) according to their respective assigned nominal chloride additions.
