The SITES Water Thematic Program is a coordinated catchment monitoring program of lakes and streams associated with the SITES Research Stations. Within SITES Water, CH4 and DIC concentrations are measured in connection to Layer 4: Chemical variables where bi-weekly (ice-free) to monthly (ice cover) manual samples of lakes and streams are collected. For the SITES lakes Almbergasjön (Abisko), Erken (Erken), Erssjön (Skogaryd), Feresjön (Asa) and Stortjärn (Svartberget) a profile is made, where water is collected from both epi- and hypolimnion at the central lake location. In addition to CH4 and DIC, water chemistry sampling also takes place at this location and is uploaded as a separate datasets (see data type: “Chemical variables-lake”).
