The BACKGROUND INFORMATION folder structure contains a documentation for the individual SITES Station based on geographical material available from authorities and within the infrastructure. The documentation is split into high resolution MAPS and respective GIS DATA. The material contains location and sampling point information relevant for the station´s monitoring programme, research areas or (sub-) catchments linked to relevant parts of inland waters. Authority data includes altitude, bedrock, orthophotos, soil depth, moisture and type, land use, vegetation and lake bathymetry if applicable. Detailed information about the folder structure and content can be found in the included ‘readme’ file.
